10-year-old water heater replaced with A.O. Smith BTL 275 at Chino high school

The call: A high school in Chino called with no hot water. At a school, that means kitchens, locker rooms and restrooms without hot water for students and staff.

What we found: Our technician diagnosed the commercial gas water heater and found failed controls. The heater was 10 years old, so instead of putting new controls on an aging tank, it was time to replace it.

What we did: We installed a new A.O. Smith BTL 275 commercial gas water heater. We also replaced the recirculation pump that keeps hot water moving to the far ends of the building, and the thermal expansion tank that protects the system from pressure spikes.

The result: Hot water back for the school, with a new heater, recirculation pump and expansion tank working together.

Tip for facility managers: Once a commercial water heater is around 10 years old, a major repair often isn't worth it. If yours is getting there, plan the replacement before it fails, ideally during a school break.
